I am wishing everyone a Happy New Year! This application cycle is certainly something to be happy about! Although not everyone experiences the same degree of success early on, collectively, my 24-25 Cohort has done well, and it's only January!
A couple years ago, a very popular pre-med advisor posted that if you hadn't heard back by Thanksgiving, you should begin to prepare a reapplication. I called him out at that time, calling that ploy a tactic to increase anxiety and get more business. I have found that applicants get interview invites all the way through April (sometimes later!). Wherever you are right now, just remember that we're not done yet! Keep sending interest emails and try to remain calm.
So where are we right now? I love tracking data because I love to SEE success. I love the text messages and emails, but seeing it all together is so much fun. Here is my current spreadsheet as of January 5th. These are all of the invites my applicants this cycle have received. The pink are DO and the yellow are MD schools.
I have about 5 more applicants that haven't heard back yet, but I am very optimistic that it isn't over yet for them.
